Still Gathering Members

Hello everyone. We’re still in the process of gathering members to form this group and host our first event. If you or anyone you know may be interested in helping us organize and find ways to get the word out, please use the Contact form on the website to send us a quick message. Here’s the address of the form: https://statesborocard.game.blog/contact/.

As stated in our welcome message, we have two main interests in starting the group. We want to bring together anyone interested in meeting new people through playing all types of card games. We also want to find a group of people who are particularly interested in playing Euchre.

This group isn’t geared toward any particular age group or background. All are welcome. Regardless of what we play, we want to provide a welcoming space to meet others, make friends and have fun playing cards. If you’d like to help us with that goal or have any questions, we’d love to hear from you!

Welcome

Our group is just starting. Please contact us for more information or sign-up at the bottom of this page under “Follow Blog via Email” for updates. We want this to be an open, inclusive group. Anyone who plays well with others is welcome!

Purpose

The organizers have two main interests in starting the group:

  1. Bring together anyone interested in meeting new people through playing all types of card games.
  2. Finding a a group of people who are particularly interested in playing Euchre.

Plan

Our plan is to start weekly card-playing events that will have a minimum of two tables going.

One table will host a simple, open, free-flowing game, like UNO®, just to provide a chance for new people to easily jump in, relax and get comfortable with the group. This table is like the lobby of a building made for welcoming people and helping them find others with similar interests. Someone at this table might say, “Anyone here play Canasta?”, then interested players can go to another table to play that or any other suggested game.

A second table will always be setup for Euchre, since that’s the main game the two founders of this group are interested in playing. Other empty tables with standard decks of cards will be available for other card games as players come together for them. Attendees are welcome to bring their own card decks, including other non-standard commercial card games (e.g., Skip-bo®).

The intent isn’t to be competitive or overly-organized but to provide a space to meet others, make friends and have fun playing cards.
